Daily quote 6-14-10

I decided to place some of my favorite quotes on here as I think many of you will find as much inspiration and truth in them as I do.  They wont be daily or probably even weekly, but I needed a catchy title for the posts.
I really like this one for anyone who participates in endurance sports.  I think many of us far too often get caught up in the finish and nothing else matters.  So along they way we miss out on so much, and like this quote says cause havoc in other areas as we are not paying attention to them.

“I know some people say “Keep your eyes on the prize,” but I disagree. When your eyes are stuck on the prize, you’re going to keep stumbling and crashing into things. If you really want to get ahead, you’ve got to keep your eyes focused on the path.”

~ Russell Simmons from Do You!

And Russell follows it up with “Always focus on your effort, instead of the results of that effort.”

Focus on your effort, the here and now and not on the future or past.  The only thing you can control and make a difference in is the present moment.  Take time when out running or riding to notice something you have never seen before and truly enjoy what you are doing.  Give it a try, I know I am trying harder to live this way.

About runfaraz

I am a guy who loves to run marathons, and has been gifted with exceptionally slow genes which makes for mid pack finishes in races. If I don't run I become an unbalanced manic fool, so yes...running is my prozac. I believe that the key to a happy productive life is balance. Balance in all areas of your life. If one area is out of balance, all others go out of balance. Come back often as I love to see the hit counter go up!!! View all posts by runfaraz
